Police identify murder victim found near Old Mill Road

Police work the crime scene on Wednesday night.

The man found murdered near a creek off of Old Mill Road on Wednesday was a 31-year-old resident of the City of Alexandria, the Fairfax County Police announced today.

Micale Kebede suffered an unspecified “upper body trauma,” according to an autopsy performed Thursday.

A resident walking their dog found Kebede’s body Wednesday afternoon near a bridge just past Gateshead Road (see map). The bridge crosses a creek and a narrow wooded area that divides the Mount Vernon Manor and Sulgrave Manor neighborhoods.

The FCPD said Friday that victim specialists are working with Kebede’s family to offer them any assistance that might be needed.

Police have not said yet whether Kebede was killed at the spot where he was found or if his body was moved there. It is also unclear when Kebede died.

The homicide is the 12th in the county and the third in the Richmond Highway area in 2019. A 16-year-old boy was killed and buried in the North Hill woods in May, and a 19-year-old man was killed in the Meadow Woods Apartments in Hybla Valley in October.

Four arrests have been made in the North Hill case, no arrests have been announced in the Meadows Woods killing.
