A double shooting this morning in the Sequoyah neighborhood left a man dead and his brother seriously injured.

Police say they were called to the 7900 block of Sausalito Place (see map) shortly after 2:30 a.m. for a report of a man shot. Upon arrival they found 18-year-old Kamren Quick outside a condominium complex suffering from a gunshot wound. Inside a residence they found Quick’s older brother, 20-year-old Jayden Quick, dead from a gunshot wound.

Kamren Quick was treated on the scene after being moved to safety by first responders, the police said. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting is not believed to be random, according to FCPD spokesman Sgt. Greg Bedor. No arrests have been made, and the police are asking anyone with information to call the FCPD’s Major Crimes Division at 703-246-7800.

The killing is the 14th murder in Fairfax County in 2019. It is the fourth homicide in the Richmond Highway area this year, and the second this month. On December 18 the body of a 31-year-old Alexandria man was found near a stream off of Old Mill Road in the Mount Vernon area. No arrests have been made in that case.
