Remains found in Prince William County have been identified as Miguel Angel Ruiz Carrillo, 18, who has been missing from his Buckman Road home since early August.

Police found Carrillo’s remains on Tuesday after Fairfax County and Prince William County Police using dogs conducted a search of the area near Nokesville Road and Fauquier Drive in Nokesville (see map). An autopsy was conducted Wednesday and today the Prince William Police announced that remains were Carrillo and that his death has been classified as a homicide.

No cause of death has been released yet.

Carrillo, who attended Bryant Alternative High School, was last seen on Aug. 3. His parents reported him missing after he failed to return to his home in the 4200 block of Buckman Road the morning of Aug. 4. A few days later police changed his status to “endangered/missing,” and said that his life may be in danger.

Fairfax County Police previously said they believe Carrillo’s disappearance is gang-related.

Three people — two adults and a juvenile — have been arrested by the Fairfax County Police in connection with Carrillo’s disappearance. All three are said to have gang ties, according to the police.

Prince William County Police will be leading the investigation into Carrillo’s murder.
