Attempted robbery reported near Huntington Metro

A man suffered minor injuries in a robbery attempt on Huntington Avenue on Tuesday morning, police reported.

The victim was exiting the Huntington Metro station around 11:40 a.m. when a man came up to him, assaulted him and tried to grab his wallet, police said. The victim was able to run away and the assailant did not get his wallet, police said.

The victim’s injuries did not require medical attention, according to a police spokesman. The only description provided by police was that the robber was a black man in his early 20s who was wearing dark clothing.

The robbery is at least the second near the Huntington Metro station this year. On January 9, a man assaulted a person outside the station around 6:30 p.m. and stole their iPhone, according to the police.

The police released a surveillance camera image of the suspect in that case in February, but no arrests have been reported.
