Police blotter: Worker at ABC store pepper sprayed during robbery

Three people stealing beverages from the ABC Store at Engleside Plaza pepper-sprayed a clerk on their way out the door Friday morning, according to the Fairfax County Police.

The incident happened a little after 10:30 a.m. at the store, which is located at 8628A Richmond Highway (see map). Police say two women and one man entered the store, filled their cart with bottles of alcohol and then headed to the checkout. Instead of stopping and paying, one of the perpetrators sprayed the clerk and the group then fled to an automobile and left.

An employee at the location indicated Monday that the worker sprayed with the pepper spray was doing okay now.

The store does have surveillance cameras, but footage was not released by the police.
