A photo of Huntley Meadows Park taken just after sunset on New Year’s Day was among the winners of the Fairfax County Park Authority’s First Hike Fairfax 2020 Photo Contest.

The Park Authority announced the winners on Friday, with six selected from the nearly 200 submitted for the annual contest held January 1.

Mike Crosby’s shot of the Huntley Meadows boardwalk was tapped as the People’s Choice winner after receiving more total votes than any of the 18 finalists, the Park Authority said.

The Park Authority awarded prizes for the winners, with Crosby winning a four-month RECenter Leisure Fitness Pass.

Huntley Meadows has long been popular with photographers throughout the D.C. area, and in 2019 a photo of red winged blackbird at the park won the grand prize in an Audubon Society contest.
