Beyer to hold town hall meeting at Mount Vernon High School
Rep. Don Beyer’s next town hall meeting will be held at Mount Vernon High School on January 23.
The town hall will run from 7-8:30 p.m. Mount Vernon High School is located at 8515 Old Mount Vernon Road (see map).
Beyer, a Democrat, says he will discuss the upcoming second session of the 116th Congress and also look back at what took place in 2019.
In November, Beyer held a town hall at T.C. Williams High School to discuss the impeachment of President Trump.
Beyer was elected in 2014, succeeding Jim Moran, and has been re-elected by large margins in the past two Congressional elections. His 8th Congressional District covers the entire Richmond Highway area as well Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church and other parts of Fairfax County.
You can RSVP to the town hall here.
A year ago I asked Congressman Beyer why he felt President Trump’s business
renting hotel rooms to foreign nationals/governments was a violation of the Emoluments Clause but his business renting/selling/servicing automobiles to foreign nationals/governments was not. He would not answer my question a year ago. I wonder if he will do so this time. I also asked if he, like President Trump, was going to put his business in a trust and turn over foreign sales profits to the Treasury. He stated he would not. I wonder if he still has that position.
I would very much like to know why Beyer continues to be just a yes-man for Nancy Pelosi? Can he not think for himself? The democrat controlled House has accomplished NOTHING of merit for the American people except to waste millions of tax dollars on the nonsensical Russia investigation and now the absolutely laughable Schiff/Nadler/Pelosi three stooges impeachment comedy act. As a lifetime (now 60 years) resident of the Mount Vernon area (8th district), I suffered through the years of the incompetent Jim Moran to be followed up by a worthless car salesman Don Beyer. I am saddened that he along with his party have taken to making impeachment a cheap political side-show and he like the rest of the liberals in Congress cannot accept the fact that we did not coronate Hillary Clinton and elected President Trump instead. Now Beyer’s party associates want to eliminate the Electoral College, coddle Illegal Immigrants and place their welfare over that of citizens, totally devalue life and calling it “Choice” and implement feel good worthless policies like an artificially high minimum wage that in the end helps nobody – but sounds good to the uninformed. Now Beyer’s party is condemning the killing of an absolute terrorist over the security of Americans and once again showing their anti-American leanings. Mr. Beyer is a total failure for the 8th district and yet will be re-elected over and over. Sad state of affairs and one that I will not miss when my wife and I retire in a few years and kiss our once-wonderful home state of Virginia goodbye. But then the 8th district voter must love incompetence; being fed a load of nonsense and being taken to the cleaners financially since they gladly re-elect the same worthless leadership. That is the saddest part of all.
Note: The National Popular Vote bill is 73% of the way to guaranteeing the majority of Electoral College votes and the presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in the country, by changing state winner-take-all laws (not mentioned in the U.S. Constitution, but later enacted by 48 states), without changing anything in the Constitution, using the built-in method that the Constitution provides for states to make changes.
It requires enacting states with 270 electoral votes to award their electoral votes to the winner of the most national popular votes.
All voters would be valued equally in presidential elections, no matter where they live.
