18 year old arrested for carrying gun at West Potomac
An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday night at West Potomac High School for allegedly carrying a gun on school property.
Jordan Cochran, 18, faces charges of possession of a firearm on school property, a felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and removing/altering a serial number of a gun.
The arrest happened in the school gymnasium, where a varsity boys basketball game against Mount Vernon High School had just concluded. Police say officers were talking to a group of men when Cochran allegedly dropped an ammunition magazine on the ground.
West Potomac principal Tangy Millard sent a letter home to parents and students on Saturday morning informing of them of the incident. In the letter, Millard said Cochran did not attend school in the county.
