Storck hosting second annual Environment Expo on Saturday

Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck and the Mount Vernon District Environmental Advisory Committee are hosting the district’s second annual Environment Expo on Saturday at Walt Whitman Middle School.

The expo, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon, will feature a number of exhibitors, eight workshops and a showcase of electric and hybrid cars. There will also be screenings of the 2006 movie “An Inconvenient Truth.”

The expo’s workshops will cover topics from reducing your carbon footprint to tips on tree planting to the threats caused by sea level rise. A full list of the workshops and who will be presenting at them can be seen on Storck’s website.

The schedule for this year’s expo:

  • 8-11:15: Exhibit Hall Open
  • 8-noon: Electric & Hybrid Car Showcase
  • 9-9:30: Opening Remarks
  • 9:30-noon: Film Screening
  • 9:30 -10:15: Concurrent Workshops
  • 11-11:45: Concurrent Workshops
  • 11:45-noon: Closing Remarks

Storck’s office said that last year’s expo had more than 25 exhibitors and 150 attendees.
