The shaded playground at Lee District Park is set to undergo a total renovation over the next few months, according to the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Work on the project, which is expected to begin Monday and run through March, will include removal and replacement of the current playground and shade structure. There will also be sidewalk improvements and other work at the site, the Park Authority said in a news release.

The popular playground is located next to the tennis courts at Lee District, and is one of the few playgrounds with a shade structure in the area.

Southern Asphalt and GameTime is the contractor for the $260,000 project, which the Park Authority said is funded by bonds and proffers.

Work on the site will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. and 5 p.m. on weekends.
