Chamber honors area firefighters, police and EMTs
The Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce honored 23 area first responders at its 12th annual Police & Firefighters Tribute last Friday.
The awardees were selected from the two police stations representing the Mount Vernon and Lee districts, as well as from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and from Fort Belvoir. More than 150 people attended the event, which was held at the Hilton Springfield and by emceed ABC7/WJLA-TV journalist Jonathan Elias.
Award recipients from the Mount Vernon District Police Station:
- Officer of the Year: PFC Stephen Cicinato
- Supervisor of the Year: Sgt. Jeff Mauro
- Auxiliary Officer of the Year: Keith Shaver
- Detective of the Year: Edward Carpenter
- Meritorious Service: Lt. Camille Stewart
Award recipients from the Franconia District Police Station:
- Officer of the Year: PFC Brenden L. Petersen
- Auxiliary Officer of the Year: Richard Majauskas
- Supervisor of the Year: 2nd Lt. Michael E. Johnson
- Detective of the Year: Detective Matthew J. Bestick
- Meritorious Service: Crime Analyst Simone Engelhardt-Worden
Award recipients from the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department:
- Firefighter of the Year: Elizabeth Wagner
- Volunteer Firefighter of the Year: Gregory Loston
- Meritorious Service Master Technician: John Adams
- EMT/Medic of the Year: Robert Blasetti
- Company Officer of the Year: Captain II Arthur “Danny” Cox
Award recipients from Fort Belvoir Fire & Emergency Services:
- Firefighter of the Year: Stephen Kass
- Firefighter/Medic of the Year: Katherine Jones
- Fire Officer of the Year: Lt. Ty Burch
