Three Richmond Highway-area daycares joined hands once again to do their part in the fight against cancer.

The Koala Kids Daycare, Carter’s Child Care and Building Blocks Family Child Care held their third annual Kids Walk for Cancer fundraiser on Friday. The daycares have marched the past three Octobers to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. This year, while all proceeds go to Komen again, the groups decided to make the theme the fight against all cancers.

Dressed in pink and wearing “Support Comes in Many Colors” bandannas, the group walked around the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital complex and then dropped by the Mount Vernon fire station to thank the firefighters for keeping the community safe.

So far the daycares have raised $850 towards their goal of $1,500, according to organizer Lynette Vango. Last year the groups exceeded their goal of $1,200, and Vango said they hope to do so again in 2019.
