Police blotter: 3 robberies reported over weekend

Three robberies were reported in the Richmond Highway area this past weekend, including an incident that sent a victim to the hospital, according to Monday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The first incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the Red Roof Inn at 5975 Richmond Highway (see map). Police only said that a man entered a room at the motel and assaulted a person inside before stealing a purse. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Later that night around 9 p.m.. a group of four men jumped a victim and stole his wallet and cell phone in the 8400 block of Frye Road (see map). The men fled on foot but police were able to find and arrest two suspects. Geremy Rodriguez Paz, 18, of Woodbridge, and Charlie Arevalo, 20, of New York, were each charged with robbery.

The third robbery took place around 3:20 a.m. Saturday in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue (see map). A person was dropping off a friend when a man entered his backseat and pulled a gun. Police said there was a brief struggle before the assailant was able to take cash and flee on foot.
