Renowned biologist Thomas Lovejoy will be giving a presentation on climate change this Sunday at the Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church.

The presentation, “A Wild Solution to Climate Change,” will focus on how rising global temperatures threaten the Earth’s biodiversity, and talk about the practical and effective solutions for reducing those impacts, according to a Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church press release.

Lovejoy currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the United Nations Foundation and works as a professor in George Mason University’s Environmental Science and Policy Department. He is credited with coining the term “biological diversity” in 1980 and is famous for his studies of the Amazon. He was also an early contributor to PBS’s “Nature” series.

The event starts at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The event is hosted by Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church’s Climate Action Team, which the congregation launched as a year-long project to increase awareness and action around reversing climate change.

Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church is located at 1909 Windmill Lane (see map).
