Police blotter: Good Samaritan robbed after giving man ride
A woman who thought she was giving a man a ride to church became the victim of a robbery Wednesday afternoon near the Rose Hill Shopping Center.
Police say the incident began around 2:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Rose Hill Drive (see map). A man asked a woman for a ride to an area church, and she agreed. After the man was in the car he asked her to stop at a restaurant so he could use the restroom. But when the man came back, another man was with him and they forced her to go to an ATM and withdraw money.
The two men fled after taking the money from the victim. Police said they were described as black men, one approximately 5 foot 5 inches tall with short hair and a short beard, and one who was approximately 6 feet tall with short hair and a long beard.

Grand Larceny/Obstruction of Justice: On Friday afternoon around 5:45 p.m. officers were called to the CVS store in the 3100 block of Lockheed Boulevard (see map) to investigate a larceny that was occurring. When they arrived, the suspects ran away but were quickly arrested. Store merchandise was stolen. James Shelton, 49, Darryl Carter, 56, and Qaadir Philson, 19, all of Washington D.C., were charged with grand larceny and obstruction of justice. They were held without bond.
Strong arm robbery: The victim reported he was assaulted and knocked down by a group of men on Sunday while he walking to a bus stop in the 8200 block of Russell Road (see map). The suspects stole his personal property and left the area. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
