Ghaisar protest

Family, friends and supporters of Bijan Ghaisar, the man who died in November 2017 after being shot by two U.S. Park Police officers on Fort Hunt Road, held a protest Monday morning at the Interior Department. The protest was in response to the recent promotion of Park Police Chief Robert MacLean.

Marking five years since Graham’s death

Last week marked the fifth anniversary of the the day that Hannah Graham, a 2013 graduate of West Potomac High School, went missing. Then a sophomore at the University of Virginia, Graham disappeared Sept. 13, 2014 after a night out and was later found murdered. Her killer is serving now serving life in prison.

• Fairfax County is hosting a public meeting on the Richmond Highway Bus Rapid Transit project on Tuesday evening at Bryant High School.

• A planning commission public hearing on a plan to install 18 gas pumps at the Richmond Highway Costco will be held Wednesday. The meeting will be broadcast live on Channel 16, and can be watched online as well.

• A planning commission public hearing on a plan to build a small shopping center near on Richmond Highway has been postponed from Thursday until October 17.
