Candidates for school board, state delegate to discuss issues at Wednesday forum
The Fairfax County League of Women Voters is holding a candidate forum for both the 44th District House of Delegates race and the Mount Vernon District school board representative race Wednesday at Sherwood Regional Library.
There are two candidates running for the 44th district seat in the Virginia House of Delegates:
- Paul Krizek, the Democratic incumbent who has held the seat since 2015.
- Richard Hayden, a Republican challenger who is running for office for the first time.
The 44th district covers much of the Richmond Highway area. A map of the district can be seen here. Elections for the seat are held every two years; Krizek did not face an opponent in 2017.
The Mount Vernon District School Board race includes three candidates. The candidates all run as independents, however two of the three have endorsements from the Fairfax County Democratic Committee and the Fairfax County Republican Committee, respectively.
- Karen Corbett Sanders, an incumbent running for reelection for the first time. She is endorsed by the FCDC.
- Steven Mosley, a challenger has the endorsement of the FCRC and is running for office for the first time.
- Pamela Ononiwu, a challenger who is running for office for the first time.
School board seats are held for four years.
The forum is from 7-9 p.m. Sherwood Regional Library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane (see map).
