Police blotter: Store robbed by man wielding pepper spray

A Boost Mobile store on Richmond Highway was robbed Monday afternoon by a man who police said used pepper spray to assault an employee.

The robbery happened around 2:10 p.m. at the cell phone store, which is located at 8516 Richmond Highway (see map). After walking into the store a man described as being in his mid 40s sprayed an employee and then demanded phones and cash. Police said the victim complied and the man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise.

Pursuit/Assault on Law Enforcement: Officers saw a parked car at the intersection of Audubon Avenue and Janna Lee Avenue on August 23 around 9:35 p.m. The car had no lights on and the windows were heavily fogged. The officers walked toward the car and it quickly drove off, nearly hitting them. An officer in a cruiser saw the incident and pursued the car. The driver hit a parked car and ran off. Irvin Budd, 29, of Maryland, was found nearby and charged with assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, disregard police signal to stop, hit and run, reckless driving and driving without a license.

Burglary: Someone entered a garage in the 7000 block of Bedrock Road on August 24 and stole a bicycle. Officers later saw a juvenile riding the stolen bicycle and arrested him. Petitions will be sought for the burglary.

Assault with weapon: A man stabbed another man with a box cutter after an argument in the 8400 block of Richmond Highway around 2:15 a.m. on August 25. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Agustin Marcos Ramirez, 29, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.
