Police blotter: August 19-23

A pair of robberies and two instances of teenagers participating in shenanigans were among the incidents reported by the Fairfax County Police Department in this week’s daily blotters.

The robberies were reported in the 7900 block of Richmond Highway (see map) and the 7200 block of Parsons Court (see map). An attempted robbery was also reported in the 7800 block of Richmond Highway (see map). All of the robberies were strong-arm style incidents; the police did not specify any injuries.

Police also reported that a pair of teens broke into Hybla Valley Elementary School and vandalized the interior before getting caught as they left the building. A Fairfax County Public Schools spokesman said the duo sprayed shaving cream in the school.

A second incident involving youngsters happened Monday afternoon when a pair of teens spotted two golf carts with the keys left in them in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue (see map). The pair allegedly took the carts for a joyride and crashed them into vehicles. They were caught with the assistance of the Fairfax 1 police helicopter, according to the police.

Attempted robbery: The victim saw a juvenile steal his bicycle in 7800 block of Richmond Highway around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday. The victim confronted the juvenile and was assaulted while taking the bike back. The juvenile ran off; he was described as black, 13-15 years old, and skinny.

Incidents reported in Thursday’s blotter:

Robbery: The victim was sitting outside a business in the 7900 block of Richmond Highway around 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday when a man and woman assaulted her and took personal items. The man is described as black, 6’3”, in his 20s and skinny. The woman is described as black, 18 to early 20s, pink or red hair, short and thin.

Incidents reported in Tuesday’s blotter:

Grand larceny: Two golf carts were parked with the keys left in them in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue on Monday afternoon. Two juveniles stole the carts and crashed them into parked cars. With the help of the helicopter, officers found and arrested the juveniles. Petitions are pending for charges.

Incidents reported in Monday’s blotter:

Destruction of Property: Officers saw two juveniles exit Hybla Valley Elementary School, located at 3415 Lockheed Boulevard, and run away around 4:30 p.m. on August 17. Both juveniles were quickly arrested. The two boys had entered the closed school and damaged property. Petitions were sought for trespassing and destruction. An FCPS spokesman said the juveniles sprayed shaving cream in the school.

Robbery: The victim was approached around 1:25 a.m. on August 17 in the 7200 block of Parsons Court by a man who told him the victim owed him money. The victim felt threatened and relinquished his wallet to the suspect. The suspect took $5 and gave the wallet back to the victim. The victim watched the suspect walk back into his apartment. Officers responded and found a 22-year-old Alexandria man. He was charged with robbery.
