Good Shepherd Housing announces four new board members
Good Shepherd Housing announced earlier this week that it has elected four new members to its Board of Directors.
The new board members currently work high-level jobs at local and national companies including Amazon, Dell and Booz Allen Hamilton, and have experience in the non-profit and volunteer sectors as well.
Founded in 1974 and headquartered on Richmond Highway in the Mount Zephyr area, Good Shepherd is a 501(c)3 non-profit that works to reduce homelessness and enable self-sufficiency for families in Fairfax County. According to its website, Good Shepherd helps more than 1,000 families in need and recently acquired its 70th unit.
The new board members:
LaShaunda Ford is a Senior Technology Services Manager for Dell Technologies, a licensed realtor and the owner of Edible Bliss – A Southern Cake Bakery. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Junior League of Northern Virginia, Women in Technology – Girls in Technology Program, National Society of Black Engineers, and National Black MBA Association, Society of Women Engineers, and the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria.
Pete Gartlan is President of Donohoe Development Company, as well as Vice President of The Donohoe Companies, Inc. He is a former Board and Executive Council Member of the D.C. Building Industry Association; an Advisory Board Member for the D.C. Coalition for the Homeless; an Advisory Board Member for the Alexandria-based Child & Family Network Centers; and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Steve Hartell is a Director of Public Policy at Amazon and leads its Congressional Affairs. Hartell leads Amazon’s public policy engagement on a number of priorities including intellectual property, workforce, and corporate taxation. Before joining Amazon, Hartell worked at Cisco Systems, Inc., EMC Corporation, and for former Sen. Ernest F. Hollings (D-SC). He recently served as the President of the Board of New Hope Housing, and is currently on the Board of the Alexandria Soccer Association.
Lisa Sales is a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton and the Chairman of the Fairfax County Commission for Women, where she serves as the Mount Vernon District Commissioner. Sales also sits on the Fairfax County Domestic Violence Prevention, Policy and Coordinating Council. She has been active with the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and is a Task Force Member of Supervisor Storck’s Moving On Safe Haven Project. In March 2019, Ms. Sales was part of the team that brought a new domestic violence shelter to the Route 1 corridor.
