Rose Hill fire displaces one
A fire in the Rose Hill area on Thursday evening displaced one person but did not result in any injuries, according to the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department.
The blaze started in a first-floor office in a Cape Cod-style home in the 4800 block of Upland Drive (see map) around 6 p.m. Flames were visible in some of the home’s first floor windows when firefighters from Fairfax County and the City of Alexandria arrived, but the fire was quickly knocked down, the fire department said.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire, which was discovered by somebody walking by the house. The fire department estimates the damage to the home to be about $95,750.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the fire department said.
Red Cross assistance was declined by the home’s occupant, according to the fire department.
