The Fairfax County Police are looking for remains in the North Hill plot after investigators received information that a body was there.

Officers searched North Hill since starting early Wednesday morning after receiving the tip, a police spokesman said. Around 6:45 p.m. the police announced that no body had been found yet, and that the search would continue in the morning.

The spokesman was not able to give information yet on where the tip came from, or if foul play is suspected. However officers from the FCPD’s Major Crimes unit are involved in the investigation.

North Hill is a 33-acre piece of county-owned land that sits on the east side of Richmond Highway, just north of Dart Drive and the Woodley Hills mobile home park (see map).

The land, which used to be home to a trailer park, has been vacant for decades and is mostly thick woods at this point. The area is often used by the local homeless population. North Hill is slated to be converted into an affordable housing apartment complex and market-rate townhouse development.
