Mount Vernon station commander promoted to new position

Maj. Matt Owens, the current commander of the Mount Vernon Police District station, has been promoted to run the FCPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau.

Owens had been in charge of the Mount Vernon Police District station since September 2017. He took over for Maj. Tony Matos, who also left after being promoted to a new position within the department.

The FCPD’s full release on Owens’ promotion and other personnel moves in the department can be read here. Jerry Watts, who served as assistant commander at the Mount Vernon station until May 2018, was among the other officers promoted.

Owens’ promotion is effective April 27. No replacement has been announced yet.
