Cyclist injured after being hit by car on Telegraph Road

A bicyclist suffered injuries Thursday afternoon after being struck by a car on Telegraph Road.

The incident happened around 5:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Telegraph Road near the intersection of Franconia Road (see map). According to a Fairfax County Police spokesman, a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta accidentally sideswiped the cyclist.

The cyclist was taken to the hospital with injuries that police described as non-life-threatening.

The driver of the Jetta, Marcus Campbell of Woodbridge, was issued a summons for fail to pay full time and attention, the police spokesman said.
