Police blotter: Man steals car after offering to help with groceries
A man offering to help some Walmart shoppers with their groceries instead took off with their car — and hit a car on the way out of the shopping center, according the Fairfax County Police blotter.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot at 6303 Richmond Highway (see map). Police say the man offered to help the car’s occupants, then got in and drove off as they returned their cart.
No injuries were reported, but the thief hit a pole and an unoccupied car as he headed toward Route 1, and that car was pushed into another vehicle.
Police responded but could not find the victim’s 2015 Kia Sorento.
