Frank Tranfa, who has served as the principal of the Burke School since 2014, will take over at Quander Road School effective April 1, FCPS announced. The Burke School serves middle-school aged students with unique emotional and/or behavioral needs. The Quander Road School is one of two high schools in FCPS that specialize in teaching students with emotional, behavioral or social challenges.

In addition to his current position at the Burke School, Tranfa has previously worked in FCPS as an assistant principal and department chair at Chantilly High School, and as an assistant director of student activities and teacher at Centreville High School.

Tranfa has a master of arts in education from George Mason University and also holds a Virginia Professional License in PreK-12 School Administration and Supervision, Emotional Disturbance and Specific Learning Disabilities, according to FCPS.

Former Quander Road School principal Joe Thompson left in November to take the same position at Mountain View High School. Thompson had been at Quander Road since 2014.
