Police arrest man who allegedly showed teen explicit video in Goodwill
A 38-year-old Alexandria man has been arrested in connection with an incident at the Goodwill store in Penn Daw on Sunday, the Fairfax County Police announced Thursday.
Police say a tip from a community member led them to Santos Portillo-Melendez in the 6100 block of Richmond Highway yesterday, where he was arrested and taken into custody.
Santos Portillo-Melendez is accused of following a teenage girl — police did not release the age of the girl — around the Goodwill at 6220 Richmond Highway on Sunday afternoon. Portillo-Melendez is alleged to have asked her for help and then showed her a sexually explicit video on his phone.
Police release surveillance video images of the suspect on Monday, and said the video backed up the teenager’s story that the man followed her around the store. A citizen who saw the images of the suspect recognized Portillo-Melendez and called the police, according to the FCPD press release.
Portillo-Melendez was charged with one count of obscene sexual display and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police say he’s being held without bond.
