Police blotter: Man robbed of shoes a block from similar incident two weeks ago

For the second time this month a person meeting up with someone on a Woodlawn-area street to sell shoes was instead robbed during the transaction.

The latest incident happened on Tuesday night around 7:20 p.m, when the victim met up with two men in the 8200 block of Keeler Street (see map) to sell two pairs of shoes. But the “buyers” ended up pulling weapons and stealing the shoes from the seller, according to police.

The incident mirrors a February 15 robbery in the 8100 block of Keeler Street in some ways, although there were differences. In the earlier incident, the buyer thought he was meeting up with one person, but three other men also arrived, and one pulled a knife.

During Tuesday’s robbery, the perpetrators were each carrying guns, according to police. There was also a more detailed description of one of the perpetrators in Tuesday’s robbery, with police saying one of the men was 16-20 years old, black and had a goatee. The second suspect was only described as being black.

The Fairfax 1 helicopter and K9 units helped the search for the two suspects in Tuesday’s crime but were unable to locate them. A police spokesman said detectives are still investigating the robbery and cannot say yet if it was related to the February 15 robbery.

Delivery driver held up

A pizza delivery man was robbed at gunpoint late Monday night in the 4200 block of Buckman Road (see map). The robber, who was wearing a mask according to police, took personal belongings, money and the pizza before fleeing on foot.
