Police: Man dies from injuries suffered in “altercation” near Beacon Hill
A 36-year-old man died Wednesday from injuries suffered during an “altercation” of some sort near the Beacon Hill Apartments last week, the Fairfax County Police announced Thursday.
Matthew L. Watson was found unresponsive by police in the 6600 block of Tower Drive (see map) on February 21, the FCPD said in a press release on Thursday. Watson was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as life-threatening, and died sometime yesterday. Watson’s injuries were the result of blunt-force trauma, a police spokeswoman said.
The press release said detectives have identified the other person involved in the incident that left Watson injured, but did not release his name. No charges have been filed yet and the individual is not in police custody, the police spokeswoman said Thursday.
“Criminal responsibility will be determined pending further investigation and consultation with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney,” the press release said.
Police did say the man is believed to be known to Watson.
The cause and manner of Watson’s death have not been determined yet by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the press release said.

I pray for justice for Watson
