Person found dead after Hybla Valley house fire

One person is dead after a house fire Wednesday night in the Hybla Valley area, the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department announced this morning.

Firefighters arrived at a home in the 7700 block of Schelhorn Road (see map) around 9:45 to find smoke coming from the home. The victim was found in the one-story house and removed by firefighters, the fire department said. The victim died on the scene.

A Fairfax Fire and Rescue spokesman said Thursday morning that no information regarding the name or age of the victim, or the cause of the fire, was immediately releasable. The fire is under investigation and an autopsy on the victim is pending.
