Gas prices at Mount Vernon stations among lowest in D.C. area

Three service stations along the southern stretch of the Richmond Highway corridor are selling regular unleaded gasoline at under $2 per gallon, making them among the cheapest options in the D.C. metro area based on a GasBuddy heat map analysis.
As of press time, the Mount Vernon Shell at 8500 Richmond Highway, the Exxon at 8861 Richmond Highway and the Crown-Woodlawn Auto Center at 5634 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway are all selling regular unleaded fuel for $1.97 per gallon. Further north along the highway, regular unleaded fuel prices tend to range between $2.00 and $2.50.
According to the American Automobile Association, the average price of gas in Northern Virginia is presently $2.19 per gallon for regular unleaded.
