Police blotter: Woman returns from trip, finds two men living in apartment

A woman returning to her Hybla Valley apartment after two months away found quite the surprise when she opened the door on Thursday afternoon: Two strangers had apparently made the apartment their home while she was gone.

According to Friday’s Fairfax County Police blotter, the woman was returning from a trip out of the country after being gone since October. She entered her apartment in the 7000 block of Republic Court (see map) around 5:20 p.m. and discovered the two men. It appeared they “had been staying in the apartment for an extended amount of time,” police said.

The men fled after the resident called 911. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.

One of the uninvited guests was described by police as being a black man between 30 and 40 years old, 6 feet tall and sporting “a big beard.” The second suspect was described as being a black man between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, a skinny build with and having dreadlocks.
