Police blotter: Man assaulted, robbed near Mount Vernon Square Apartments
A man was hit in the head with a piece of wood and robbed by two men Monday night near the Mount Vernon Square Apartments in Hybla Valley, according to Tuesday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.
The man, who police said was uninjured in the incident, was walking home when he cut through a fence opening near the 2600 block of Arlington Drive (see map). As he went through the opening, he was struck in the head by one man and approached by another who demanded money. The victim complied and the men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
Police described the assailants as Hispanic men in their late teens or early 20s, each with slim builds. One was about 5 feet tall wearing a a white t-shirt and blue sweatpants. He used an orange shirt to cover his face, police said. The second was described as being approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall, wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans, and using a white shirt to cover his face.
