New dental practice opens at Mount Vernon Plaza

Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry — a dental practice that aims to enhance customer convenience and comfort via modern technologies — opened its doors November 27.

Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry takes over a space in the shopping center at 7696 Richmond Highway, Suite D (see map). The spot was once occupied by Five Below, which is now in a larger space on the other side of the plaza.

While Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry provides traditional cleanings and related services for families, its biggest differentiator is its single-visit crowns, according to office manager Haris Shakeel. Using a CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) machine and special digital imaging process, dental staff can provide patients with a permanent metal-free crown in just two hours, including right after a root canal.

Starting in a couple of months, Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry will have a designated day each month when specialists — including oral surgeons, endodontists and periodontists —will visit the facility, eliminating the need for patients to be referred elsewhere for specialized oral care.

Shakeel said the dental practice will hold a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, February 16. The event will feature appearances by Washington Redskins players, raffles and refreshments.
