New ABC store in Huntington expected to open in January

A new ABC store coming to the Huntington area is expected to open sometime in January, an ABC spokeswoman said Monday.
The new store is located in the Shops of Huntington Gateway at 5982 Richmond Highway (see map). It takes over a long-vacant, 3,098 square-foot space closest to the center’s Huntington Avenue entrance.
Renovation of the store space began in the summer, and an ABC spokesman had originally said the new store would open sometime before the holidays. No reason was given Monday for the new estimated opening date.
Once opened, the ABC store will be the fourth in the greater Richmond Highway area, with stores currently operating in the Belle View Shopping Center, Mount Vernon Plaza, Engleside Plaza and the Rose Hill Shopping Center.
