Inova Mount Vernon CEO moving to Fair Oaks Hospital

Dr. Don Brideau is moving to a new position after less than two years as chief executive officer of Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.

Brideau has been named the new CEO of Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Inova announced on Monday morning.  Brideau will replace John Fitzgerald, who is retiring. The move is effective December 17. 

“Don has demonstrated his passion and skill in building a culture of quality and excellence, focused on patients, team members and the community,” Inova President and CEO  Stephen Jones  said in a press release. “His experience and ability to build relationships with physicians, nurses and staff will serve the Fair Oaks community well, and we are thrilled to have him lead the hospital.”

Brideau has been CEO of Inova Mount Vernon since April 2017. He previously served as Mount Vernon’s chief operating officer and chief medical officer.

Under Brideau, Inova Mount Vernon has maintained safety ratings that rank among the highest in Northern Virginia, and the hospital received its ninth consecutive “A” Patient Safety Ranking from the The Leapfrog Group this past fall.

No timeframe was announced for naming the next CEO of Inova Mount Vernon.
