Driver facing DWI charge after crash on Fort Hunt Road
A 35-year-old man is facing DWI and other charges after a serious crash in the Belle View area that sent two people to the hospital Tuesday night.
Police say Joseph Saggese was driving under the influence when a pickup truck and SUV collided around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Fort Hunt Road and Belle View Boulevard. One person was trapped in their vehicle after the wreck and needed to be extricated by firefighters, according to a fire department spokesman.
Two people, including Saggese, were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the fire department and a police spokesman.
In addition to DWI charge, Saggese was also ticketed for refusal to take a blood/breath test, driving without a license and failure to yield on a left turn, according to General District Court records.
