The Fairfax County Police announced Friday that they have arrested an 18-year-old man suspected in a series of burglaries around the Richmond Highway area starting in November.

The suspect faces two counts of burglary, one count of grand larceny, one count of petit larceny, and one count of destruction of property. He was arrested on Thursday and is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police said.

At least 18 homes in the Fairhaven, Bellehaven Terrace and Bucknell Manor neighborhoods were burglarized during the spree, according to police. Police issued a warning to residents earlier this week to make sure their doors and windows were locked.

The FCPD’s Criminal Investigations Section (CIS), Neighborhood Patrol Unit (NPU) and patrol officers to worked together to identify the suspect, the police said. Property belonging to burglary victims was recovered from the suspects home and another undisclosed location. A police spokesman said the suspect lives in the 22303 zip code, which is close to where the burglaries took place.

The spokesman did not say if there were any other suspects in the burglaries, or if any other arrests are expected. Police did say however that the suspect will likely face more charges.
