Police blotter: Burglar flees after being confronted by homeowner

A man in the Buckman Road area had his Saturday evening interrupted by an intruder who entered his house by pushing a window air conditioning unit in, according to Monday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The incident happened around 9:25 p.m. in theĀ 8000 block of Ashton Street (see map). Police say the resident was in his basement when he heard a loud noise upstairs. When he went to check out what it was, he saw his window air conditioning unit on the floor and a burglar dressed in dark clothing, according to police.

The burglar ran away upon seeing the resident, but not before stealing an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
