Around 100 bicyclists clad in cold-weather gear showed up at Fort Hunt Park on Saturday to participate in the third annual Tour de Mount Vernon.

Despite brisk conditions, riders completed their 17- or 32-mile circuits with no technical or medical problems reported by volunteers from Spokes Etc. and Wheel Nuts. Following the tour, participants enjoyed hot chili from La Prima Catering, music from Linwood Gorham, and prizes.

Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck, organizer of the annual ride, said that next year’s event will include an activity for children, whether a short bike ride or bike rodeo.

Other partners and sponsors of the event included the Fairfax County Police, the Fairfax County Office of Public Private Partnerships, the Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling, and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation.
