Police blotter: Woman faces multiple charges following police chase
A New York woman is accused of intentionally driving into a police car and then leading officers on a chase early Sunday morning in the Penn Daw area, according to Monday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.
The 46-year-old woman faces charges of hit and run, assault on a police officer, speed to elude and reckless driving after the incident, which began in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway (see map).
Police say they were called to the scene around 12:35 a.m. after receiving a call that a car was driving around a parking lot and trying to block other cars from leaving. Officers approached the vehicle to speak with the driver, and it’s at that point that the woman allegedly drove off and hit a police car in the process.
The chase ended when an officer used a “precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver” to bump the woman’s vehicle, forcing it to come to a stop. The police did not say where the chase ended.
