Police looking for suspect who carjacked woman in Penn Daw area
A 29-year-old woman was carjacked at knifepoint early Sunday morning in the Penn Daw area, the Fairfax County Police said Wednesday.
The assailant is said to have approached the woman around 2:45 a.m. at the ATM machine at the Well Fargo at 6300 Richmond Highway (see map). The man took the victim’s money and shoved her to the ground before stealing her SUV, which had been left unlocked and running, police said. The carjacker then drove away on southbound Richmond Highway.
The woman was not injured in the incident, according to police.
The suspect is described as a being around 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was wearing a black ski mask, gray hoodie and gray construction gloves during the incident.
The stolen SUV is a red 2003 Toyota RAV4 with damage to the rear bumper and faded paint on the front end. The SUV’s license plates are UYS-6082, although police say it is possible that the plates have been removed or replaced.
Police are asking anyone with information about the carjacking or the location of the stolen SUV to call Detective Hoffman at the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800. Community members can also submit tips anonymously by visiting http://www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org, or calling 1-866-411-TIPS. Tipsters who provide information that leads to an arrested are eligible for rewards of $100 to $1,000.
Maybe, the police should be working harder to curtail the drug abuse in Beacon Apartments and the surrounding area.
