ABC7 took a trip down Telegraph Road on Friday to cover the Hayfield-Robinson matchup for its high school “Game of the Week.” It was a wise choice.
The Hawks rallied after trailing much of the contest to score the game-winner with 13 seconds left to play to beat previously unbeaten Robinson 34-27.
On the game’s key play, quarterback Chase Soper dropped a perfect pass to senior wide receiver Rajuon Pringle, who beat double coverage to haul in the dramatic TD.
In all its glory. First time beating Robinson since 1998. Most points scored against Robinson in all 23 meetings. Defense came up with crucial 4th down stop that gave us this opportunity. pic.twitter.com/SaJtOWf5Jn

Soper finished with four TD passes — including a 59-yarder to Pringle that tied the game at 13 just before halftime. Scott Woods and Tim Drummond-Higgins also caught touchdowns for the Hawks, who never led in the contest until their final offensive play.
Hayfield senior defensive back Patrick Zhang sealed the victory with an interception on Robinson’s final offensive play.
Hayfield (4-1) now travels to Mount Vernon next Friday for a Gunston District matchup with the 5-0 Majors. Mount Vernon, who is ranked 20th in The Washington Post, had this week off.
Eagles win again, West Potomac falls
Edison improved to 3-2 after beating Wakefield 26-6 at home Friday night. It was the Eagles third straight victory after starting the season 0-2.
West Potomac had a tough night against 16th-ranked Centreville, falling 47-0 to the Wildcats. The Wolverines are now 2-3 on the year, with their losses coming to teams with a combined record of 13-3.
