Affordable housing forum being held Tuesday in Gum Springs

Fairfax County officials and others will be discussing affordable housing and housing discrimination in the county Tuesday evening in Gum Springs.

The event is free, and will run from 7-9 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church (see map). Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the church’s multipurpose room.

The forum, hosted by the Fairfax County Chapter of the NAACP and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Northern VA Chapter, Inc., will discuss the current state of affordable housing in the county, and what needs to be addressed, according to material promoting the event. Audience members will also be able to ask questions.

Speakers at the meeting will include:

  • Cathy Hudgins, Hunter Mill District Supervisor
  • Thomas Fleetwood, Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development Director
  • Kenneth Saunders, Director of the Fairfax County Office of Fair Housing and Equity
  • Karla Bruce, Chief Equity Officer, Fairfax County

Michelle Krocker, the Executive Director of the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA), will also be on hand to talk.
