Caps mascot to make appearance at grand opening for new Dunkin’ Donuts
Washington Capitals mascot Slapshot will be on hand for the official grand opening celebration for the North Kings Highway Dunkin’ Donuts on Friday morning.
In addition to the Stanley Cup champs’ feathered fanatic, the celebration will feature Dunkin’ Donuts own mascots — Cuppy and Sprinkles — as well as Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg.
The grand opening will run from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the store, which is across from the Huntington Metro station in the Huntington Station shopping center. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. The celebration will also feature a prize wheel, product samples and an on-site DJ.
The new Dunkin’ Donuts opened for business on July 18, and is the chain’s first “Next Generation Concept Store” in the D.C. area. It features a cold beverage tap system, a glass display case for doughnuts and other snacks, increased food and beverage selection, and a sleeker interior that includes a six-person station with electrical and USB outlets located on the tabletop. The employees also wear uniforms designed in partnership with Life is Good, and the location is one of only a few to have just “Dunkin'” on the sign outside.
Note: A spokesman for Dunkin’ Donuts said there’s no update on the status of the new location planned for 7710 Telegraph Road. Fairfax County approved a proposal to put drive-thru Dunkin’ Donuts at the site last fall, but work on the site has not started yet.
Thanks for the tip!
I’m confused. Why will Alexandria’s mayor be on hand for something in Fairfax County?
A Dunkin’ spokesman said there was a misunderstanding about the location of the store when the event was planned. The imprecise “Alexandria” address strikes again.
