Police blotter: Two arrested after alleged gun brandishing, police chase

Two men are facing a host of felony charges after allegedly brandishing a weapon during a traffic dispute and later fleeing police Saturday afternoon on Richmond Highway, according to Monday’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The men, ages 37 and 24, were arrested after police say they ditched their car following a short chase near the intersection of Sherwood Hall Lane and Fordson Road. Each is charged with possession of a schedule I narcotic, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony speed to elude, and other a number of other firearms-related violations. One is also accused of assaulting a police officer, while the other was charged with resisting arrest, according to court records.

Both men are residents of the City of Alexandria, according to court records.

The chase began around 2:40 p.m. on Route 1 and it ended when the suspects allegedly fled their vehicle near the intersection of Sherwood Hall Lane and Fordson Road. Police say they attempted to pull over the pair’s vehicle after it matched the description of a car involved in a traffic altercation with another vehicle that involved a firearm being pointed at the victim.

No injuries were reported by police.
