Police blotter: Man points gun at driver during traffic altercation

A man escaped injury Tuesday evening after a traffic altercation on Sherwood Hall Lane that may have involved a gun being fired.

Police say the victim was driving in the 2600 block of Sherwood Hall Lane — which is a black away from the Mount Vernon district police station (see map) — around 8:40 p.m. when a black Hyundai cut him off. The driver was forced to swerve around the Hyundai and then came to a stop next to the vehicle. At that point the driver of the Hyundai pointed a gun at the victim, who in turn started to drive away.

As the the victim was getting away, he told police he heard a loud bang similar to a gun shot. Police searched the area but did not find a shell casing, but say they did find a possible graze mark on the victim’s car.

The other driver was only described as a hispanic male with short hair in his 30s. No model of the Hyundai was provided.
