Police blotter: Motorcyclist arrested after chase starts on highway and ends in Kingstowne

A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly leading police on a chase that started on Route 1 in the Engleside area and ended in Kingstowne.

The suspect, a resident of Henrico, Virginia, faces charges of speeding to elude law enforcement, reckless driving, no motorcycle license, no license plates displayed and no registration after the pursuit, which happened around 9:30 p.m.

A police spokesman said that officers initially noticed a motorcyclist driving recklessly near the intersection of Richmond Highway and Lukens Lane (see map). The bike was allegedly driving between traffic and did not have license plates. When officers attempted to pull the rider over, he allegedly sped off.

The pursuit last until the driver lost control of the motorcycle near the intersection of Hayfield Road and Spring Faire Court (see map), according to police. The suspect allegedly ran way before being captured “a short time later,” police said.

The suspectnis being held on $5,000 bond.

Destruction of Property/Trespassing: 7451 Mount Vernon Square Center (Safeway), 6/5/18, 4:37 p.m. An employee noticed damage to the Safeway storefront, heard glass break and saw three middle school-aged boys trying to enter the store. When the employee confronted them, they ran away and were not identified.

Larceny: 8000 block of Central Park Drive, gas cap from vehicle

Assault on Law Enforcement: 8400 block of Del Norte Ct, 6/4/18, 5:00 p.m. Officers were trying to arrest a 16-year-old girl for disorderly conduct but she assaulted the officers during the arrest. She was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.

Trespassing: 2600 block of Arlington Drive, 6/4/18, 7:02 a.m. A resident returned to her home and found the door unlocked. The resident contacted the police who came and found a girl inside. The girl was arrested and charged with trespassing.

Larceny: 6300 block of South Kings Highway, license plates from vehicle
