Police blotter: Delivery driver pepper sprayed during robbery; student assaults officer

A food delivery driver was pepper sprayed by a group of men Friday evening, according to today’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The assault and robbery happened around 7 p.m. in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue (see map). Police say the four assailants approached the driver and offered to buy the food he was delivering for $100. The money carried by the robbers was not U.S. currency, however, and when the driver noticed this he was pepper sprayed and physically assaulted, police said.

The assailants proceeded to take the delivery worker’s money, license and credit cards before running away. Police did not say if the victim required medical attention.

Juvenile assaults officer

A 15-year-old boy assaulted a school resource officer at Bryant Alternative School on Friday morning, police reported Monday.

The officer had been called into the principal’s office around 8 a.m. When the officer entered, police say the boy pushed and then kicked the officer multiple times as the officer attempted to take him into custody. Eventually the student was detained and later released to a guardian. Petitions for assault on a law enforcement officer will be sought, police said.

Police did not say if the officer or juvenile suffered any injuries.
