Hibachi Grill Buffet closed, replacement may already be on way
The Hibachi Grill Buffet in Hybla Valley has closed after just over a year in business, but it appears a replacement buffet restaurant is already in the works for the same location.
It’s unclear when Hibachi shut down — a sign on the door says the restaurant has closed for remodeling. However Hibachi’s phone is disconnected, and Fairfax County’s permit database indicates there has been a change in ownership.
There are also a host of recent construction and occupancy permits listed on the county’s website for the Hibachi location — including one for a new sign. Those permits are all for a restaurant called “Golden Buffet and Grill.”
Attempts to reach someone associated with the Hibachi through Facebook and email were unsuccessful. Attempts to contact a representative from the Mount Vernon Crossroads shopping center’s leasing company were also unsuccessful.
Hibachi opened in April 2017. The self-described “Chinese, Japanese, and American cuisine restaurant” was located at 7820 Richmond Highway, where it replaced longtime Route 1 mainstay Old Country Buffet.
We tried Hibachi Grill when we got a coupon, and then tried Green Olive, which we had never been to prior to trying Hibachi. Green Olive was just so much better; we’ve been back to Green Olive multiple times and never back to Hibachi.
Probably related to the Golden Buffet in Falls Church. https://www.yelp.com/biz/golden-buffet-and-grill-baileys-crossroad
That lot is cursed.
